The Floating Triad Redundant license model is appropriate for large installations that wish to ensure high availability of licenses by running 3 license servers in a special redundant configuration.
In this configuration, licenses can be accessed even if one license server fails. However, if two servers fail, the entire triad server fails and licenses can not be accessed.
Due to the complexity of this model, it is recommended for institutions with prior experience running triad redundant FlexNet license servers.
In a redundant configuration, the primary server will act as the license server if at least one of the other server is running. If the primary server fails, but the other two machines are up and running, then the secondary server takes over as the primary license server.
When connecting to a triad license server, the product first attempts to connect to the primary server. If the software does not receive a response, it will try and connect with the secondary server.
This is another license model that is a certificate base license, which uses a license file. As with all other Floating license, mac locked licenses can be shared across users within the local network and is supported across all platforms, Windows, Linux and macOS.
- Administrator or root access is required.
- License activation is done Offline with the license file.
- FlexNet license manager is required on all 3 servers.
- These licenses are locked to the 3 computers forming the triad servers.
- The three license servers should be on the same local network and should be running the same OS.
Transfer of license
The license will be locked to the three (3) triad servers with the corresponding mac address. It cannot be transferred or hosted on different triad servers for the duration of the license. A new license will have to be issued when transferring the license to a different set of triad servers. Contact Lumerical for details.
