This article explains how to check out a Floating license from either Ansys license manager (Ansys LM) or a Lumerical FlexNet license manager (FlexLM).
Important
- Process shown here requires Lumerical release 2020 R2.2 and newer.
- See this article to determine which license manager to use.
Ansys Enterprise
- Open the Launcher,
- If prompted, choose "I have a license from Ansys" then "Go to the Licensing setup".
Otherwise, Navigate to 'Licenses' -> 'Floating tab'. - Select "Ansys (Enterprise)" from the "License Manager Selection".
- Enter the HostName or IP of your Ansys license server on the Server field. If the license manager is installed/running on the same machine use the default, 'localhost' as server.
- Use Default port. Otherwise, specify the port number.
Note: If you have a managed network or a dedicated license server, consult with your IT Department or System Administrator for this information. - "Apply" to save,
- "Restart" the launcher, or when prompted,
- Open and run the simulation tool directly or from the launcher.
Ansys Standard
- Open the Launcher,
- If prompted, choose "I have a license from Ansys" then "Go to the Licensing setup".
Otherwise, Navigate to 'Licenses' -> 'Floating tab', - Select "Ansys (Standard)" from the "License Manager Selection",
- Enter the HostName or IP of your Ansys license server on the Server field. If the license manager is installed/running on the same machine use the default, 'localhost' as server.
- Use Default port. Otherwise, specify the port number.
Note: If you have a managed network or a dedicated license server, consult with your IT Department or System Administrator for this information. - "Apply" to save,
- "Restart" the launcher, or when prompted,
- Open and run the simulation tool directly or from the launcher.
Lumerical Standard
- Open the Launcher,
- If prompted, choose "I have a license from Lumerical" then click on the left arrow "Already have a Lumerical License? We will help you set up!" then select "I want to connect to a floating license".
Otherwise, Navigate to 'Licenses' -> 'Floating tab', - Select "Lumerical (Standard)" from the "License Manager Selection",
- Enter the HostName or IP of your Lumerical license server on the Server field. If the license manager is installed/running on the same machine use the default, 'localhost' as server.
- Use Default port. Otherwise, specify the port number.
Note: If you have a managed network or a dedicated license server, consult with your IT Department or System Administrator for this information. - "Apply" to save and apply your settings,
- "Restart" launcher, or when prompted,
- Clicking on the "View your active license on the FlexNet dashboard" link at the bottom, allows you to verify if the license server is running and see the list of available licenses.
Accessing from a triad redundant license servers
- Follow the steps above to navigate to the Floating license configuration and choose the appropriate product license; Ansys (Enterprise), Ansys (Standard) or Lumerical (Standard) license.
- Check "Configure redundant servers" and enter the HostName or IP of each of the triad license servers and port used. Consult with your IT Department or System Administrator for this information.
