Element tree and Element library
The element tree and the element library windows help organize and find simulation elements.
Element Tree
A simulation requires that the user define a set of elements (sources, circuit elements, analyzers...etc). As a complete setup may contain a large number of elements, the element tree was designed to allow for organization and easy selection. All simulation elements are within the Root Element, which represents the current simulation. Within 'Root Element', elements are listed as they are inserted by the user. Press F2 or double-click to change the name.
Element Library
The Element Library is an extensive list of pre-defined PIC elements, including optical sources, measurement elements, and both passive and active optoelectronic devices. The center portion of the window shows the type of elements grouped in a tree format. When selected by the mouse, the "Model" section below shows all the available primitive elements of the selected type (with a description). To insert an element into the simulation, simply drag the element into the view port. Users can also add custom Compound Elements or Scripted Elements in to the Element Library.
SEARCH: Activates the search for objects that match the keywords. The "Search" functionality supports auto-completion and auto-updating of the matched elements. Search with quotation marks search for categories, e.g. search for "analyzer" will return the Analyzer category. Regex search is also supported with a dollar sign prefix '$', e.g., search $optical|electrical will return all optical and electrical elements.
LIST: List view of the elements in the "Models" tab with element detailed description.
ICON: Icon view of the elements in the "Models" tab with element icon and name.
SLIDER: The slider only shows when Icon view is selected and users can use it to control the icon size.
FLATTEN HIERARCHY: Enables the flatten hierarchy view in the "Models" tab. When this option is selected, the folder view "Elements" tab will be disabled and the "Models" tab will show all the the elements in flatten hierarchy view.
